Valentine Sugar Cookies w/ COOKIE DOUGH FROSTING!

Yes, you read the title correctly, these Valentine Sugar Cookies do indeed have COOKIE DOUGH FROSTING.  How yummy does that sound?

Lately, I've been seeing a ton of recipes for chocolate chip cookie dough dip and frosting.  I decided to take all the deliciousness of those recipes but transform it into a Valentine's Day cookie.  Before you get all excited about chocolate chip cookie dough, I actually left out the chocolate chips.  Since I wanted to make them all pink and pretty, I skipped the chocolate chips and added cute little sugar hearts.  By all means, throw some chocolate chips in the mix if absolutely must, but these are so good, you won't miss the chips.
Just to make things easier on myself, I used pre-made sugar cookies.  Not even the ones in the tube, the ones I used were already evenly portioned out, all I had to do was plop them on the baking sheet.  You can decide if you want to keep them in a normal round cookie shape, or use a heart cutter once they come out of the oven.  If you use the heart cutter, beware, you'll be tempted to eat all the scraps!

Just in case you missed it yesterday, I posted a fabulous recipe for Peanut Butter Cookies w/ Chocolate Love

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 package pre made sugar cookie dough (or your own recipe)
  • 1/4 C butter, softened
  • 1/4 C brown sugar
  • 1 oz cream cheese, softened
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 C flour
  • 1 1/2 C powdered sugar
  • 2 T milk
  • 1/8 tsp pink/red gel coloring (optional)
  • sugar hearts, or other decorative sugar sprinkle
DIRECTIONS:

  1. Bake cookies per package instruction.  Because my dough was already formed into balls, I cut into heart shapes as soon as they came out of the oven.  If making you're own, cut prior to cooking.  Set aside to cool.
  2. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer, cream together butter and brown sugar.  Add cream cheese and mix until smooth.
  3. Mix in salt, vanilla and flour until combined.
  4. Add in the powdered sugar and the milk, slowly.  Beat well until all combined. Add coloring and mix in well until color is even.
  5. Spread over cooled cookies and sprinkle with sugar hearts.
  6. Store in air tight container.
