Nutella Sea Salt Hot Chocolate

Nutella & Sea Salt Hot Chocolate

I am a coffee drinker.  I mean, it is actually sort of gross thinking about the amount of coffee I drink.  Mostly I drink it too keep warm because I'm one of those people who is always cold.  So I started drinking some tea here and there and that is okay but it just wasn't doing it for me.  I'm always making hot chocolate for the kids, so I figured I'd give it a whirl.

I always give the kids the stuff in the envelopes and just add water.  I did that and it's a good thing they don't know any better because when I tasted it, I was thinking: watery, blah, no thanks. Now I even am feeling bad about pawning it off to my 5 year old.  Okay, I'm over that.  Being the determined girl that I am, I opened the cabinet and decided to make me something yummy and warm.

I'm sure I'm about the millionth person to make Nutella Hot Chocolate but it's new to me, so humor me into thinking I've come up with something brilliant.  Please and thank you.

This recipe is enough to make two normal size mugs.  I however have these behemoth size mugs that hold about double what a normal mug would hold.  So this made just a little over a mug worth for me.

PRINT RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 C milk (I used 1%)
  • 2 T cocoa powder
  • 5 T Nutella
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • Optional: Marshmallows
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Place milk, cocoa powder and Nutella in a small saucepan over medium/low heat.  Whisk ingredients together until warmed through and Nutella has melted completely. About 5 minutes total.
  2. Pour into mugs.  Top with marshmallows if desired.  Sprinkle 1/8 tsp of sea salt to each mug.
  3. Sink into heaven as you sip this ridiculously good hot chocolate.
