Mummy Dogs

mummy dogs by foodyschmoody.blogspot.com
How cute are these mummy dogs?

I have said it before but I'll remind you, my kids are the worst. The worst eaters that is.  My 5 year old literally eats nuggets at least once a day (don't worry I at least give him the healthiest kind I can).  And my almost 2 year old is allergic to milk/soy/peanut/tree nut/egg/sesame/chickpea so you can imagine feeding her is more than difficult. So I am delighted to report that these mummy dogs were eaten in their entirety! That's right, point goes to mommy today!  I think that makes the score something like 2,351,279 to 1.

I have been seeing these mummy dogs on Pinterest (of course) and on some other blogs but I think the recipe originated from Pillsbury.

The original recipe calls for cheese but I left that out.  Also, my kids don't eat ketchup or mustard but I wanted these mummies to have eyes so I cut some tiny eyes out of a strawberry.  So if you have picky little ones you can get creative with the eyes.

Look at these two, both of them eating and at the same time no less.

INGREDIENTS:

8 hot dogs
1 tube crescent rolls (8 oz)
mustard/ketchup (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Press seams of dough together and roll into two rectangles.  Using a pizza cutter cut long thin strips of the dough.
  3. Wrap each dog with dough, leaving a small gap at the top for putting eyes later.
  4. Bake on a cookie sheet 13 minutes.
  5. Place dots for eyes using ketchup/mustard or anything else you can think of
