Maddie Loves Lip Balm

Are you wondering what on earth the title of this post means?  I don't blame you.  Over the last few months I have been seeing Facebook posts from various people in my town about "Maddie Loves Lip Balm".  Quite honestly I wasn't sure what/who this was.  Then, about 2 weeks ago, I got a message from a Foody Schmoody reader, telling me that she is the creator of Maddie Loves Lip Balm and she was willing to send me some lip balm and asked if I would tell all of my readers what I think about them.  Ummm, free lip balm? I'm in!  And of course I like to help a local business.

I do always get a little bit nervous doing things like this, because, well, honestly, what if I don't like the product?  I don't want to hurt feelings, but I do have to be up front and honest with my readers.  Luckily,I didn't have to worry about that in this case, because I liked the lip balm.

So what is Maddie Loves Lip Balm?  Well, it is a company that sells lip balms silly.  But not just any lip balms.  They will customize your lip balms.  I'm thinking these would make cute save the dates for a wedding, or a promo item for you company, maybe a birth announcement with a picture of your new bundle of joy and the birth details.   I think it would be great to even customize them with your kids picture and name and then you don't have to worry about anyone else using your kids lip balm at school because it will be very clear that it is his/hers.  The possibilities are endless really, they are totally customizable (did I make up that word?)!  You can check out some of the ideas they have on their Photo Gallery.

Okay first, I'll mention that the balms came in this cute little padded envelope, and the balms were wrapped in pink tissue. Upon first glance I notice that my cute little logo is on there (yes I'm praising my own logo) and the title of my blog, underneath which is the URL of my website.  Also on the label is the flavor of the lip balms, which she also customized for me to be the names of food and the ingredient list (organic soybean oil, sunflower oil, palm oil, olive oil, avocado oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter, vitamin E, flavor, fd&c colors, SPF15).

They all had food derived names to them.  I sampled Candy Cane, Cherries Jubilee & Vanilla Cupcake.
The "flavors" were not overly strong which I like.  They go on smoothly and my son seemed to enjoy the Vanilla Cupcake.  My favorite of the flavors was Candy Cane but that may just be personal preference.  The Cherries Jubilee was the mildest of the flavors.

So all in all, I think these are a very cute little gift and practical at the same time.  If I had to critique one thing about the lip balms it would be that the plastic wrapping around them is not perforated at all, so it did take me some time to get them opened.  It could have been that I am a bit challenged in the hand department because of my rheumatoid arthritis, but I would suggest perforated packaging nonetheless.

So what else do you want to know about Maddie Loves Lip Balm? Here are a few things I found out:

  • They offer free domestic shipping
  • Once your customized design is done you will receive a proof via email to make sure you approve.
  • You can pay via PayPal or if you don't have PayPal she can take credit card directly.
  • There is minimum of 10 lip balms per order but that's okay because they are only $2.50 each.

So go on over and check out Maddie Loves Lip Balm either on their website or on Facebook and make sure you tell them I sent you!
